Let there be light!

My, what a little photoshopping can do!   As I was cruising blogs yesterday, (After I installed a lovely new wireless keyboard. Yesterday’s coffee spill incapacitated most of the keys on the old one.) I came across Jessica Sprague’s Photoshop Friday post about editing photos.   I’m pretty familiar with editing my photos in PSE, since they usually need a bit of tweaking before I use them on layouts.    However, my usual technique looks something like this: Open, Defog, Levels, Undo, Levels, Adjust Contrast, Undo, Re-adjust Contrast, Adjust Saturation, Adjust Saturation, Crop, Undo, Crop, Undo, Bang Head On Desk, Crop, Unsharp Mask, Save.

Definitely a rather unwieldy process, especially if I need some additional steps along the way.    So, yesterday I decided to try the featured techniques.    Anything that cuts down photo processing time is worth trying in my book!   I chose a photo of Kid #3, taken a couple years ago.

Here’s the Out of Camera, untweaked photo:

And here’s the Photoshopped Version:

I’ll definitely be using this method again. It took a fraction of the time. I used this photo on a layout I did last year. I’ll be replacing the photo I printed (using my regular editing method) with this one. I love how it “pops”. And who could resist a technique dubbed “ShaZAM”?

Have a great weekend!

Until next time…

Carla, I don’t see the first picture, but I’m SURE you were brilliant! So what did you DO to it?

Kim, I followed Jessica’s ShaZAM technique step by step. You can find it on her blog. I linked it. Super easy!
